Wisconsin Hunter Safety Course Requirements

Hunter education rules before you start the Wisconsin practice test.

Wisconsin hunters generally need hunter safety certification before hunting. Here is what to know before you take the Wisconsin practice test.

Minimum age / certification
Required for anyone born on or after January 1, 1973 (otherwise limited to a mentoring program); hunting is prohibited under age 12 except at supervised events.
Blaze orange
At least 50% fluorescent orange or pink from the chest up (including hats and hoods); a minimum of 144 square inches applies in ground blinds on state land during the firearms deer season.

Official regulations are set by Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources. Always confirm current rules there before hunting.
