Tennessee Hunter Safety Course Requirements

Hunter education rules before you start the Tennessee practice test.

Tennessee hunters generally need hunter safety certification before hunting. Here is what to know before you take the Tennessee practice test.

Minimum age / certification
Hunter education required starting at age 10; hunters under 10 do not need certification but must be accompanied by an adult 21 or older able to take control of the firearm. The Apprentice license offers a one-year exemption starting at age 10.
Blaze orange
At least 500 square inches of fluorescent orange or pink on the upper body and head, visible front and back, for big game hunting (exceptions for archery-only and turkey hunting).

Official regulations are set by Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency (TWRA). Always confirm current rules there before hunting.
