Minimum age / certification
Certification is issued starting at age 12 (age is assessed at the end of the course, not enrollment); hunters under 12 can't sit the written exam.
Loaded firearms in vehicles
On OHRVs, firearms are prohibited unless unloaded; in a standard motor vehicle, a loaded long gun is prohibited (longstanding case law); since 2017, a loaded handgun may be carried without a permit, but loaded long guns remain prohibited.
Tagging
A deer tag must be attached to the carcass immediately with date, time, and wildlife management unit recorded; only the tag issued to the license holder may be used; the check station generates a Deer Registration Report with a confirmation number.
License year
Calendar year, January 1 through December 31.
