Missouri Hunter Safety Course Requirements

Hunter education rules before you start the Missouri practice test.

Missouri hunters generally need hunter safety certification before hunting. Here is what to know before you take the Missouri practice test.

Minimum age / certification
Residents age 11 and up are eligible to take the hunter education course and exam; hunters 10 and under may hunt only under the direct supervision of an adult mentor during firearms seasons.
Blaze orange
Required during firearms deer/elk/black bear seasons — a hat AND another article of clothing above the waist must both be visible from all sides.
Tagging
Telecheck reporting is mandatory (deer, elk, black bear, turkey) by 10pm on the day of harvest; migratory game birds must be tagged before processing or taxidermy, and turkeys need a notched date.

Official regulations are set by Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). Always confirm current rules there before hunting.
