Connecticut Hunter Safety Course Requirements

Hunter education rules before you start the Connecticut practice test.

Connecticut hunters generally need hunter safety certification before hunting. Here is what to know before you take the Connecticut practice test.

Blaze orange
Up to 400 square inches of fluorescent orange can be required depending on the type of hunt and time of season (per the official Deer Hunting Roadmap).
Tagging
A harvest tag must be filled out and signed immediately and kept with the carcass; the harvest (deer/turkey) must then be reported online or by phone within 24 hours, with the confirmation number recorded.
License year
Calendar year; licenses expire December 31.

Official regulations are set by Connecticut Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP). Always confirm current rules there before hunting.
